What kind of options are there for non-surgical skin tightening?
Apart from the options mentioned above, there are other options that do not require surgery. Three procedures are particularly worth mentioning here:
- plasma skin tightening
- treatment with IPL (intense pulsed light)
- radio frequency skin tightening
All the measures have in common that they warm up the skin and are intended to stimulate the formation of new collagen and elastin. These are two crucial structural proteins of the human skin.
The first successes can already be seen after the first treatment. In many cases, however, several sessions are necessary to ensure that the achieved effect lasts as long as possible.
A great advantage of these measures is that they are harmless (as long as they are carried out correctly) and can also be used anywhere on the body (e.g. in the face or at the neck).
Is surgical skin tightening a good idea?
The aim of surgical skin firming is to remove excess tissue and tighten the remaining skin. However, surgery with a scalpel is more of a last chance if the other methods have proved unhelpful.
A competent doctor will advise you in detail about your possibilities and risks before an operation. You will need to consider whether you wish to undergo surgery even though you only want to remove a few wrinkles from your eyes.
Be sure to ask if there is a chance that the flaccid skin will recede by itself. It is often a short-term aesthetic problem that many people would like to have solved as quickly as possible. Before you make a hasty decision, you should first try gentler methods.
How long does the skin tightening last?
This question depends first and foremost on which method you have chosen.
Artificial measures primarily correct a condition and do not always have a long-term effect. A surgeon's face lift may have to be renewed one day if you don't adopt a skin-friendly lifestyle.
Natural skin tightening treatments are therefore the sensible way to avoid having to renew a skin tightening every few years. These measures also have the advantage that you do something good for your facial skin and the rest of your body skin at the same time.
Measures applied selectively (e.g. to stimulate collagen production) must then only be used as a supplement, e.g. to counteract natural signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles at the neck.
